"I welcome and strongly encourage the
adoption of the KidsPace Dance Code of Practice.
I hope it becomes obligatory as a matter of good sense."
Who we are
KidsPace is dedicated to creating positive and empowering dance communities for young people to thrive. We have developed the KidsPace Dance Code of Practice as a practical tool to combat the sexualisation of children and consequential mental health effects in dance education, and to inspire positive teaching practices that holistically safeguard the wellbeing of our young people. Through effective policy creation, education and awareness, we are passionate about pioneering a culture that places the highest value on building strong, positive identities, and a healthy sense and perception of self in the lives of children and young people!

Why we do what we do
There are constant challenges for children growing up today in an age consumed by media, advertising and pop culture influences: from body image and comparison, to negative perception of self, bullying, anxiety and mental health issues, and more. We live in a society where:
1 in 4 young people are suffering from a mental illness
1 in 10 girls are bulimic
1 in 3 Australian girls under age 10 are already dissatisfied with their physical appearance.
In Australia there are over half a million children and young people engaged in dance education. As Dance Educators with the potential to be a key influence in the most formative years of a child's life, we hold the responsibility of safeguarding not only the physical, however the mental and emotional wellbeing of young dancers through the way we teach, guide and lead.
